2014

Twenty fourteen with your ups & your downs, your weddings on seafronts & weddings in towns, your packing of boxes & buying first homes, your sanding & painting, a place of our own. Your months full of sunshine & pure, sheer elation, your trips to the airport, long drives to the station, your sharing of moments of love & of laughter & wishing new couples a happily ever after…

Aside from the weddings, there was time for engagements, making portraits of families to frame as their favourites…

But you haven’t all been smiles and la vie en rose, it was a year of great highs and witnessing lows, I’ve watched your dark times embrace friends and our dearest, seen tears traverse cheeks and pulled those ones the nearest.  We’ve loved and we’ve grown and such beauty I’ve seen, so I wish you love and good light for your twenty fifteen.

I was really thrilled to have been asked to contribute some advice to You & Your Wedding’s photography special and especially honoured to see that my thoughts were sat alongside some very highly esteemed UK photographers too.

Wedding photography is obviously hugely important to me, but whether I’m photographing your wedding or not, I still want you to have beautiful photos. Pick up a copy of the most recent You & Your Wedding for some invaluable advice.

I’m heading to Edinburgh at the end of the week, for a very lovely country wedding at Lennoxlove House. I returned home from Crete this morning fresh off an Easyjet red-eye, to a huge mountain of editing and emailing but it’s always so good to be home.

  • A FRENCH CHATEAU WEDDING

A wedding in Provence is a special affair, the light is so pretty and there’s a scent in the air, of rosé in glasses and the green of the trees and the humming and buzzing of fat bumble bees. Nicola and James came together in May to a cheer of bon chance on their French wedding day.

  • MY 2009 IN WEDDINGS

Well, what a beautiful year it has been.
    ..
I’ve worked hard as a Picture Editor during the week and managed to photograph my first five weddings on the weekends, too. I’ve made so many new friends and so many photos…  and I’ve loved it all.

  • A CRETE ISLAND WEDDING

Earlier on this year whilst on holiday in California, I travelled home via San Francisco for a meeting with these two. Nancy works with textiles and has an incredible eye for design and all things beautiful and when you talk to her, she gives you the impression of always being on the verge of bursting into laughter. Chic, cheeky & in my eyes, utterly amazing.

I was so happy to have met them both before their wedding in Crete in June this year but even happier that the next place we met, was the night before their wedding, with all of their guests, for dinner by the sea…
