A HAYMARKET HOTEL WEDDING

A wedding in Provence is a special affair, the light is so pretty and there’s a scent in the air, of rosé in glasses and the green of the trees and the humming and buzzing of fat bumble bees. Nicola and James came together in May to a cheer of bon chance on their French wedding day.

This is the story of Mark & Paula’s wedding day. They are True Mods, beautiful individuals, cool, calm, cat-loving people… the types you want to spend your Friday nights at the pub with. They got married last October in Islington & I got myself a backstage pass.

On a calm afternoon in Paris you can walk along for miles, you can stroll past the sights, you can stop for a while. We sauntered and we chatted, that afternoon in May, I edged them into nice light and at the end of the day, I waved them goodbye and wished them bonne chance, au revoir for a week… til their wedding in Provence.

I am very lucky to be able to photograph weddings such as these. Sweet, intimate and so full of love and smiles. It also happened to be in Zürich, a city I had not visited until July. I think I’m in love with Switzerland.

Getting ready together, they were both the picture of calm…
…with a little edge of excitement.

Swiss civil ceremonies last just fifteen minutes, even when in French and English, which leaves plenty of time for tea and sightseeing on vintage trams…

There is something so special about grandparents. This lady reminded me of my own grandma and squeezed my hand and beamed when she caught my eye. She also had the cutest granddaughter who was not in the least bit fatigued by the blazing sunshine.

Thanh has a passion for all things culinary and gave everyone tiny kitchen utensils as gifts.

Isn’t she just the sweetest little thing?

After our trip to Switzerland, we’ve decided that one day we’ll move to Zürich and have lunch by the lake on Sundays with our new friends Thanh & Yvan. It’s a truly beautiful place; fresh and clean and content.
I still have a lot of editing to catch up on and a few more weddings and portraits to do before the year is out. I’m quite sad to see the autumn leaves on the ground but glad to have time to catch up on things through winter. It’s been a year of big changes, exciting challenges and huge rewards, but there’s a little more on all of that later.
June in Lake Como is a magical place to be, to wander and take photos and absorb the sheer beauty. The water and the sunshine and peace and light abound as the lake laps to the water’s edge, which is where I could be found, with pizza and gelato and a camera in my hand as I thanked another couple for bringing me back to my homeland…

What a stunning couple and set of photos. And I LOVE that venue. We have one of those drift wood balls in our living room but this is the first I've seen of them hung in that way! Beautiful!
Thanks! They had the shooting gallery for the reception; it's a really lovely place for a wedding-the decor is so stylish I had to drag myself back to the guests and away from the furniture!
Beautiful shots! Especially the B&W ones. Gorgeous couple, they must have been a pleasure to photograph.
Thanks Serena-they really were. Lia didn't stop smiling all day and she has the sweetest personality too. I loved every minute of it.
I'm enjoying your blog too-keep it up!
