A TRIP TO CAPE TOWN

A couple of months ago, we went to Cape Town, for Richard & Sanchia’s wedding and decided to make a really good holiday of it. On our first day, we rushed down to a beach bar to have cocktails in the setting sun with the very lovely Emma Norén and her handsome Ricky.

This is my first photo taken with her beautiful Rolleiflex-there’s something sweet about taking a photographer’s photo. Emma photographed our wedding last year and for that, I adore her. We had so much organised for when we visited Cape Town, looking back at all the photos, I am amazed we fitted it all in.

I’m now off away again for a few days, this time to Sicily to eat, sleep and take photos. Then I’m back to work on two weddings next week, in Covent Garden and the country. It’s going to be a really good week.

  • TRULY GRATEFUL

    I am always enamoured with nights like this one.

    An evening at home with my husband, in our little London flat, sat outside under the heater on the terrace, listening to our neighbour’s winter concert, with a bottle of Oyster Bay. Feeling alive and truly grateful for life and love, forever surprised at how sweet London can be.

    It’s been a phenomenal start to the year. I am already overwhelmed by what’s in store, but overwhelmed in the best way possible.

  • THE BRITISH JOURNAL OF PHOTOGRAPHY

    ~This time last week, I had just come home from a day spent at Unveiled, an event held by the British Journal of Photography in association with Wedding magazine and Hasselblad. The event was aimed at wedding photographers in the UK; those established and aspiring.

    I was thrilled to be asked by the BJP to speak about my experience in the wedding photography industry and to stand up alongside Kat of the infamous RocknRoll bride, to talk about how I began Caught the Light. I absolutely love my job and feel very passionately about natural wedding photography, believing that there’s a direct correlation between valuing your product as a photographer and loving each wedding from start-to-finish. It was a great experience for me to meet some colleagues and discuss all sorts of wedding photography things. The July issue of the BJP also features a little about me in the Intelligence section. I was interviewed to discuss a bit about how important things like this blog, Facebook & increasingly Twitter, have become to me as a photographer.

    I’m off to Switzerland in the morning, to get ready for a wedding on Saturday. It’s been a little grey here in London over the past few days, so let’s hope Zurich has a little more sunshine to offer. I’ll be able to share last month’s destination wedding next week too-a beautiful wedding in Tuscany.

  • AN ENGLISH COUNTRY WEDDING

    One afternoon with sunshine, a day in late May, I drove all the way to Sussex to photograph a wedding day. Ollie & Mels declared their union be one, so we all came together and smiled in unison. Some words were exchanged, hands were squeezed in delight, it really was so beautiful to watch these two unite.  Two families together and a plethora of friends, a party for two people and a dance at the end…

  7. LJB, I did do shark cage diving and it was brilliant! We didn't feed them (ethical diving dahling) but they came really close and one eyeballed my husband. He looks a bit more like a seal than me though. If you ever get the chance, you should definitely do it!

  12. Hi there, I've just found your blog by Googling natural light photographers in London. It is SO great to find such amazing, creative and inspiring work being done here in London. Most of the work I've found doesn't hit the creative spot like yours. And I'm from Cape Town, which you have captured beautifully. I'm moving back home in October to (hopefully) start my own photography business. Not weddings, but very much natural light, real, honest, candid stuff. Anyway, will be following your blog and work from now on, thanks for the inspiration. Estelle

  14. The sharks were the highlight for me. Seeing them face-to-face makes you realise how ridiculously useless you are when you are as a human swimming in the ocean. And yes one did stare at me for a bit too long.
