A RUFFLED BLOG FEATURE

I knew I would love Alex & Chris when we first spoke on the phone early last year. They’re designers and run their own studio, We Three Club, so I was very excited to see how much of their personalities they would bring to their wedding and when Alex told me she’d be wearing a vintage dress, I was in. They booked me right there and then on the phone without even needing to meet me, which for me is always a huge compliment. She also totally out-quiffed me with her gorgeous hair, scoring an easy 10/10 in the style stakes.

They’re something straight out of a much cooler era, wouldn’t you agree?

Alex also hand-designs wedding invitations and details here at Dear So & So, so be sure to get in touch if you love the styling of her wedding day as much as I do.

This beautiful wedding is featured here over on the oh-so-pretty Ruffled today, which we three are all thrilled about! Thank you so much Amanda for sharing their unique style over on your beautiful blog.

You can also see Alex & Chris’ wedding video here but I’m warning you, it might make you cry a bit.

  • AU REVOIR, OCTOBER

Summer is over, autumn has arrived and the busiest months of shooting, I seem to have survived…

October on Instagram was pretty eventful… a great deal of happiness was found with a trip to Bali to photograph a very, very beautiful wedding day, a hair-raising trip to Gilli Trawangan and a few days of peace and quiet before the 24-hour round trip back to London. I still have so much editing to catch up on, but it felt a little rude not to bid a fond farewell to the incredibly special month that was October.

  • THE BRITISH JOURNAL OF PHOTOGRAPHY

I love to see my photos printed in frames or magazines, so I’m very chuffed to have had two recent features courtesy of the lovely Catherine at Wedding magazine.

The first is in the British Journal of Photography’s March issue, which talks about the new style of wedding photography, featuring a portrait from Tara & Lawrence’s wedding.

The second is in the pretty Wedding Flowers April edition; a full spread feature of the Westminster Chapel wedding I photographed last summer.

Thanks to Catherine at Wedding magazine, for featuring my photos!

  • THE BRITISH JOURNAL OF PHOTOGRAPHY

I was doubly thrilled recently to have had one of my images printed in the May issue of the British Journal of Photography, to advertise an event I’ll be speaking at in London, on July 1st.

You may be able to grab a copy of the British Journal of Photography’s May edition quickly before the June issue goes on sale. It’s a very beautiful magazine which takes a good look behind the scenes of photography and discusses the latest British photography campaigns, with insight and a discerning eye.

At Unveiled, I’ll be being interviewed by the infamous Kat of Rocknrollbride fame, talking a little bit about my photography style and how I found a spot in the British wedding photography market. The event is supported by Hasselblad and so I’ve also been asked to trial the newest addition to the Hasselblad H range, the H4D40, before the event which I am very excited about. It’s an amazing medium format camera and I’ll even get to use it on an actual wedding too!

The editor of Wedding magazine, Catherine Westwood will be there too, so it will be interesting to hear about the wedding industry from both her print and Kat’s online perspective.

Any of you who have met me know how much I love to talk, but it’s still a little bit intimidating getting up in front of big groups of people; especially those industry professionals who read the BJP and look to Hasselblad as the respected brand that it is. If you’re interested in coming along to heckle me, you can buy tickets for Unveiled here and also enter the photography competition too if you are a professional or aspiring wedding photographer.

  • PORTRAITS IN PARIS

An afternoon in Paris and a walk around the city, with a rather handsome husband & a wife who’s oh-so-pretty. We stopped & we paused and we laughed & had fun and just before we finished up, we were kissed by the sun.

  • A WEDDING IN ZURICH

I am very lucky to be able to photograph weddings such as these. Sweet, intimate and so full of love and smiles. It also happened to be in Zürich, a city I had not visited until July. I think I’m in love with Switzerland.

Getting ready together, they were both the picture of calm…

…with a little edge of excitement.

Swiss civil ceremonies last just fifteen minutes, even when in French and English, which leaves plenty of time for tea and sightseeing on vintage trams…

There is something so special about grandparents. This lady reminded me of my own grandma and squeezed my hand and beamed when she caught my eye. She also had the cutest granddaughter who was not in the least bit fatigued by the blazing sunshine.

Thanh has a passion for all things culinary and gave everyone tiny kitchen utensils as gifts.

Isn’t she just the sweetest little thing?

After our trip to Switzerland, we’ve decided that one day we’ll move to Zürich and have lunch by the lake on Sundays with our new friends Thanh & Yvan. It’s a truly beautiful place; fresh and clean and content.

I still have a lot of editing to catch up on and a few more weddings and portraits to do before the year is out. I’m quite sad to see the autumn leaves on the ground but glad to have time to catch up on things through winter. It’s been a year of big changes, exciting challenges and huge rewards, but there’s a little more on all of that later.

  • A CHATEAU GRIMALDI WEDDING

At this beautiful late-summer wedding in Provence, the sun shone bright and bold and friends by the dozen flew all the way to France, to witness C & D’s vows be told. We clapped and we cheered and the mothers smiled wide, and everyone sipped champagne before supper outside…

  3. Everything about this wedding is so, so beautiful… the bride, the dress, the photography, the stationery, the framed embroidery… everything! Alex’s invitations are incredible also :) Now I must find me some of them big balloons!

  4. Hello! We would love to know if you’re available for our wedding on Saturday 5 November. Do send me an email if you are! Many thanks, Alice

  5. Love this.. Really impressed by all the details and the clear thought they put into making the day theirs, so they’ll be able to look back and think “yeah, that was us…” rather than some strangers they dressed up as for the day.

And the perfectly captured photos will of course help with that no end :)
