A LITTLE LONDON FAMILY

A wander around old London town on a quiet Saturday morning in Spring. Daffodils, Columbia Road and some good light to work in. My oh-so gorgeous Georgia, her Ivo and husband Nick, my Contax and light meter, loading new rolls with a click. Photographing families of soon-to-be four with clients now friends whose son I adore…

Georgia & Nick were my first French wedding couple. They took me to Provence for their beautiful wedding and we were friends from there on in. Now they have the very lovely Ivo and a forth member of the family on their way soon, too. Georgia is a marvellous mother, brilliant blogger and thoughtful friend and I’m so grateful to her, for choosing me to photograph her family’s milestones.

I have a little availability left for family portrait sessions through summer, so if you’re thinking of asking me to photograph your own family, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. There are few things more important than capturing these fleeting moments to look back on in the years to come.

This month is a very busy one with lots of shooting and editing along with eagerly awaiting scans from my new best friends at UK Film Lab. Over the past fortnight, I’ve been practising manual focusing with my film camera and have photographed three weddings, two engagement sessions and my first maternity session. I’ve also reluctantly arrived at my thirties. It’s already been a most memorable April and we’re only half-way through…

  • A NOTE TO YOU, WINTER

    When it’s cold and it’s cloudy and the sun sets in the day, and it’s too dark too early and snow’s on it’s way, you declare you hate winter and you’ll move to warmer climes and spend the rest of your days living in summertime… and then there are these two and they marry in London town and the sun makes it’s debut just before it’s heading down, and suddenly everything is really quite fine and you decide to wait it out until that Great British springtime.

    I have quite a love-hate relationship with winter, which mostly lies heavily on the hate side of things. The cold and the frost and the dusting off the faux fur and the boots and the heater and the dark at 3pm… and then just when you think you’ve had enough, there are daffodils and afternoon rays and that one sunny morning where you got your freckles back.

    I’m photographing my first spring wedding of the year this afternoon and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve taken a few weeks out lately to spend time with my family and have also squeezed in time for a few film family portrait sessions, with a little help from my new best friends at UK Film Lab. I’ve also had time to catch up on all the things I leave til winter, like kissing friends’ brand new babies and reading Vanity Fair… Maybe winter isn’t quite as bad as I like to make out.

  • A PARISIAN ENGAGEMENT

    Tomorrow at 5am, I leave for Portugal to photograph these two love birds who are getting married on Saturday. Aren’t they just gorgeous? They’re so very much in love and their wedding day is going to be of internationality, with friends from all over the world. It’s also 27 degrees which should mean a welcome return of my freckles. I really can’t wait.

  • A MODERN LONDON FAMILY

    On a warm day in autumn with leaves on the ground, if you had strolled Hampstead Heath you might just have found, a boy named Isaiah with his parents in tow, tiny teeth and huge eyes with a smile soft and slow. On this very heath was where his father proposed, so we wandered and paused and stood in the glow of the sun beaming down on this family of three. Today marks five years, happy anniversary dear Lia & G!

  • A BRIGHTON ENGAGEMENT

    It is impossible not to be happy in the presence of Adam and Sophie. They are so very much in love with each other, you in turn find yourself falling a little bit in love with them. They laugh a lot and make you smile, they’re kind and affectionate, relaxed and real and as I discovered one day in Brighton, the kind of people you feel like you’ve always known. They also have a habit of making the sun shine, which was perfect for our morning wandering around for their pre-wedding photos.
