A FRENCH CHATEAU WEDDING

A wedding in Provence is a special affair, the light is so pretty and there’s a scent in the air, of rosé in glasses and the green of the trees and the humming and buzzing of fat bumble bees. Nicola and James came together in May to a cheer of bon chance on their French wedding day.

Planners: Lavender & Rose // Venue: Chateau Grimaldi // Dress: Alice Temperley

It was particularly lovely to return to the gorgeous Grimaldi, the location of my very first French wedding. Chateau Grimaldi is possibly the perfect venue for a summer wedding in Provence, only made better by the indispensable addition of the Lavender & Rose girls and their impeccable planning.

It’s been a very busy bank holiday week with just two days in the office to answer a hundred emails, finish some editing and a wedding album design and plan a return trip around Paris photographing the spectacularly chic Sinclair & Moore. It feels like this week has gone a million miles an hour, so I’m very grateful to have a few quiet hours on the trip to Bordeaux tomorrow, to photograph my first destination wedding of the year at the excellent Chateau Rigaud.

A few years ago I moved to Italy and fell in love with Rome. Then I met an Australian and fell in love with him, moved back to London to get married and accidentally left a little bit of me behind. Returning to Rome to photograph a wedding was fantastic, but returning to Rome to photograph a wedding atop a castle was the icing on the cake.

A day of smiles, excitement and laughter, two promises to hold fast and a happily ever after. Alex & Nic, their beautiful families, my cameras and I and their friends from overseas. It felt like a film, the band played J’ysuis Jamais Allé and it became the soundtrack to a most incredible day…

  • AN ODE TO 2012

Sometimes when life gets busy, it’s easy to forget, the people and the places, the dusks and the sunsets. Those days through the year when you felt your heart beat, huge smiles from new people you were quite lucky to meet. Be still for a moment, just sit and recall, reflect on the absolute beauty of it all. Life is quite frantic and at times it’s quite sad, but these are the memories that make our souls glad.

This year I’ve been invited on a number of days, with camera in hand and finger ablaze, to witness small fragments of love and sheer bliss, a sum of thirty-eight weddings and they looked a lot like this…

  • A HEMPEL HOTEL WEDDING

Jing & Bai are a truly unique couple. From the moment we met, I loved their style and individuality, Jing’s cheeky eyes and Bai’s sense of calm. I was honoured to photograph their intimate London wedding, which they shared together with twenty friends. At our first meeting, Bai told me that he liked tilt-shift photography, so I bought a tilt-shift lens to use at their wedding. It’s a tiny little bit magic.

  1. What a lovely pretty wedding. I especially love the speeches and the way you have captured those expressions.

  2. I love how subtly bright the colours are and the portraits in the field!

  3. I’m no photographer but some of my favorite images have streaks of sunlight streaming through. As my 4-yr-old would yell, there’s drops of sun! The drops are magical, though.

  4. Wow! These are stunning photographs, her dress is beautiful! What a great location too. I love your candid and natural shots where you can tell you have captured such a happy day.
