A UNION CLUB SOHO WEDDING

One day in October, in the centre of town, Amy & Duncan got ready, arrived and said vows. Before friends and their family, their loved ones and mates, they made a promise of union and an unending date. They kissed and we clapped, a tear may have been shed, they drank and they laughed, as do newlyweds. An evening of celebration and of wishing them well, my hundred or so favourites, their short story they tell.

Thank you both hugely for being beautiful to photograph, for wearing spats and a killer dress, for being in love and for choosing me.

Venue: The very eclectic Union Club Soho, London.

The past week has been a busy one of editing and meetings, album designing and accounts… there’s always plenty to do when you’re self-employed and the quieter, colder months of the year are no exception. There was a wedding at Petersham Nurseries and one by Em at the lovely Nonsuch Mansion for the gorgeous Erica & Jay, a family portrait session and the standing by of a new arrival. Elijah’s expecting a sister…

Up next is a bright and beautiful wedding in Spain photographed by my newly engaged and oh-so-talented Emma Jane. Think blue skies (think hard), palm trees, a beautiful bride and a rather dashing groom.

I’ve worked hard as a Picture Editor during the week and managed to photograph my first five weddings on the weekends, too. I’ve made so many new friends and so many photos…  and I’ve loved it all.

  • IN THE PAST MONTH

…we have flown 9475km, driven 3750km, spent 17 nights in 10 different hotels, squeezed 14 newly weds, cried at 7 weddings, sat on 6 planes, spoken four different languages (at questionable degrees of fluency), travelled with three different loved ones as dutiful assistants and are now two very happy and grateful photographers. It’s been one really busy past month, but it’s also been so worth it.

Here’s a little look at what we’ve been up to.

And I finished up in España with elegant Alia & dashing Pierre’s fantastic wedding in Spain…

It has been a beyond beautiful month for us both and it looks like it’s set to last. We’re off to two lovely weddings in Ascot & Wiltshire today, a little bit closer to home.

Have a lovely weekend one and all and an especially happy anniversary to you, Husband.

Three years of marriage and you’re still here! I love you immensely. x

  • ALEXANDRA & NICHOLAS’ FRENCH WEDDING

A day of smiles, excitement and laughter, two promises to hold fast and a happily ever after. Alex & Nic, their beautiful families, my cameras and I and their friends from overseas. We all came together for a most emotional day, we watched and we clapped, we sang and we swayed. It felt like a film, the band played J’ysuis Jamais Allé and it became the soundtrack to a most incredible day…

  • A WALK AROUND PARIS

I was so excited to have been recommended by the most incredible photographer Michele M Waite, to photograph Jamie & Steven whilst honeymooning in Paris. Steven is a wedding-planning, dress-designing, cake-making, husband extraordinaire and Jamie is quite possibly the prettiest, sweetiest and most charming lady you could ever hope to meet. We walked around town drinking coffee, buying sweets and taking photos. This really is my job, but it certainly doesn’t feel like work when you’re photographing these two in your very favourite city.

  • BRUNCH AT THE BASTIDE

It’s memories like these of last summer’s weddings, that bring a smile to my face. Remembering the sunshine and smiles and feeling very grateful that my job is to photograph people enjoying themselves, laughing and joking and sharing a celebration. Miki & Tom had brunch with their friends and family at The Bastide near Cannes, France and it was rather splendid.
