A WEDDING IN PORTUGAL

Jess & Ludge got married in April this year in Lourinha, Portugal and I was so grateful to have been there. Friends and family flew from Sydney, London and Paris to celebrate and it made for a beautiful reunion.

The evening before, everyone met up for a chat and a catch up, this time in a tiny old village. We stood outside in the street, laughing and talking whilst the sun set and the bar next door sold glasses of wine for 30¢. This is the tiny village that Ludgero grew up in.

Early the next morning, I headed out to photograph Jess getting ready with her mum, in a lovely bright hotel room. My favourite.

It really was a lovely day and I think you’ll agree that they’re very much in love. If you missed their pre-wedding photos in Paris, you can see them right here. and if you were a guest and would like to see more, you can request access to their full gallery, here.

I thought it was about time I got started blogging what we’ve been up to lately and thinking back, since this wedding in April, I’ve photographed a total of nine weddings in beautiful places. We always love our London weddings but we also like to travel and so far we’ve been to Stockholm, Provence, Cannes, Crete and Edinburgh and loved each and every single trip.  There are a couple of gorgeous weddings from Emma Jane to share too. She’s been to Mallorca, Bordeaux and even photographed a wedding here in a zoo. It’s true.

I’m gearing up for a wedding in Mallorca this weekend and it’s full steam ahead until then. These wedding photos don’t edit themselves, you know.

I was doubly thrilled recently to have had one of my images printed in the May issue of the British Journal of Photography, to advertise an event I’ll be speaking at in London, on July 1st.

You may be able to grab a copy of the British Journal of Photography’s May edition quickly before the June issue goes on sale. It’s a very beautiful magazine which takes a good look behind the scenes of photography and discusses the latest British photography campaigns, with insight and a discerning eye.

At Unveiled, I’ll be being interviewed by the infamous Kat of Rocknrollbride fame, talking a little bit about my photography style and how I found a spot in the British wedding photography market. The event is supported by Hasselblad and so I’ve also been asked to trial the newest addition to the Hasselblad H range, the H4D40, before the event which I am very excited about. It’s an amazing medium format camera and I’ll even get to use it on an actual wedding too!

The editor of Wedding magazine, Catherine Westwood will be there too, so it will be interesting to hear about the wedding industry from both her print and Kat’s online perspective.

Any of you who have met me know how much I love to talk, but it’s still a little bit intimidating getting up in front of big groups of people; especially those industry professionals who read the BJP and look to Hasselblad as the respected brand that it is. If you’re interested in coming along to heckle me, you can buy tickets for Unveiled here and also enter the photography competition too if you are a professional or aspiring wedding photographer.

  • A WEDDING AT SHELDON MANOR

Two teenage sweethearts fall in love, at fifteen they share their first kiss. They promise to be together forever and pledge to stay true to this. Fast forward ten years, a ring she now wears, a wedding at Sheldon Manor they plan. On the twenty-third of June, another kiss is had and a lady makes a husband of her man. It rains and it showers and umbrellas are opened, as are the hearts of these two. We smile and we swoon because we’re all pretty privileged, to witness Clare & Rich say that they do…

  • A FRENCH CASTLE WEDDING

Kate & Rob are the kind of people you would describe as salt of the earth. Embracing and endearing, Emma-Jane and I felt like we’d been friends of theirs forever and with Rob’s sharp suit and Kate’s red hair, they were a treat to photograph. Two-hundred guests travelled from England & Dubai to the French town of Pierrefonds to celebrate their wedding in a huge medieval castle. It was certainly a weekend to remember.
