A GOODWOOD HOUSE WEDDING

An elegant winter wedding at the quintessentially English Goodwood House

Venue: Goodwood House // Dress: Raimon Bundo at Mirror Mirror // Bridesmaid’s dress: Two Birds // Groom’s suit: Cad & The Dandy // Floral Design: Spriggs Florist //

I had the pleasure of photographing L’s sister’s wedding near St Tropez a few years ago. L wore a beautiful Vivienne Westwood design which I immediately recognised and naturally began to covet and so a bond was struck. A few years later we were accidental north London neighbours and I was thrilled when L&M got in touch to enquire about their wedding at Goodwood House. It’s not often that you have sunshine on an English winter’s day but L&M’s beautiful early November wedding at Goodwood was timed to perfection in this incredibly sophisticated setting. If you’re planning a spring, summer, autumn or winter wedding, I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

This week is a busy one with a trip to Annecy tomorrow via Geneva for a portrait session and back for a day’s editing before an early start to Nice for a wedding at the Villa Ephrussi du Rothschild. I have been so desperate to photograph a wedding there for years and it looks like my virtuous patience has finally paid off!

I’m dashing back home on Saturday morning to celebrate seven whole years of marriage to my most favourite person on earth. Where do the years go? It will be a decade together at the end of summer and I can’t imagine what life would sound like without him.

Up next, a pretty London wedding at Dartmouth House. Think September sunshine and mile-wide smiles.

  • LATELY…

…I have been seeing a lot of the sea.

An intimate wedding in Mallorca and an engagement session in Brighton has made it an exceptionally good week. Both had sunshine and couples really very much in love.

Today I’m going to be far away from the sea in the Great British city of London, photographing a wedding where Shakespeare used to wet his whistle. It’s raining and grey but I always feel like weddings are so much bigger than the weather. Two beautiful people are today committing themselves to each other, for life. Their friends and family will witness it all, smiling, laughing, drinking champagne, we’ll all eat cake, dance and celebrate. Really then, who cares if it rains?

  • A FRENCH RIVIERA WEDDING

A beautiful weekend on the French Riviera, in the mountainside village of Eze, a couple in love stand beaming and blushing, amidst their families and all of their friends. We dined and we cheered, Nouvelle Vague filled the air and a bride shone her smile cheek to cheek. The sky stretched proud over St Jean Cap Ferrat, three shades of blue I could see, champagne was drunk and kisses exchanged as the sun set slowly in the sea…

  • HELLO ELIJAH

It’s taken me quite some time to pull this post together. I’ve had mixed emotions about sharing something so personal belonging to my clients, but they asked me to when they saw them and I feel like sharing something different today.

I had never really thought so much about photographing a birth until I was asked by my two beautiful friends. I was worried I would be in the way, that their memories would be of me and my camera and not of the birth of their first child and also selfishly, that it might put me off having my own children… I wasn’t, they aren’t and it didn’t.

I was the first person to ever take a photograph of this human being. Hello, Elijah.

I know he can’t really see but at four minutes old, he looked straight at me.

Kristina, you have never been more beautiful than you were on 21st January at 7.09am. You know that I am in total awe of you both and that I’m so grateful to have been asked to be there with you, camera in hand. You are simply incredible, made of the most inspiring things and I love you very much.

I’m away this week for a couple of days, spending time with my ma and sister. It’s times like these that reaffirm just how special a family is.

  • MY 2009 IN WEDDINGS

Well, what a beautiful year it has been.
    ..
I’ve worked hard as a Picture Editor during the week and managed to photograph my first five weddings on the weekends, too. I’ve made so many new friends and so many photos…  and I’ve loved it all.
