A SIMPLE LONDON WEDDING

A simple city wedding held at London’s Chandos House, a lot of excited smiling, a wife and her new spouse. A day overflowing with heartfelt declarations, late summer in London and a wonderful celebration.

Wedding venue: Chandos House, London

I photographed this beautiful celebration a few years ago and I distinctly remember Natalie’s energy and excitement. Happy, relaxed and just full to the brim with love for her new husband and every single member of her family, immediate and new. When I think of my most favourite weddings, it’s always the couples who just let go and enjoy themselves on their wedding day. The ones who know what it’s all about. A commitment to the one you love, a party with your nearest and dearest and cake. Always cake.

A lot has happened since I last blogged. I had a baby, fell head-over-heels in love, have remained there in a state of awe-struck wonder at this large-headed, round-bellied beautiful, beautiful miracle, traversed weeks then months of sleep-deprived delirium, emerging out the other side six months later, held together with coffee and concealer. We found our stride with the sunshine around spring, long before summer when I returned to work with the help of my incredible husband, travelling around France and England, photographing weddings and portraits, revisiting that feeling of immense privilege a wedding brings and the backstage pass that is being behind the scenes of one of the most memorable days of a person’s life.

  • A WEDDING AT SHELDON MANOR

Two teenage sweethearts fall in love, at fifteen they share their first kiss. They promise to be together forever and pledge to stay true to this. Fast forward ten years, a ring she now wears, a wedding at Sheldon Manor they plan. On the twenty-third of June, another kiss is had and a lady makes a husband of her man. It rains and it showers and umbrellas are opened, as are the hearts of these two. We smile and we swoon because we’re all pretty privileged, to witness Clare & Rich say that they do…

Carey and James are a lovely, down-to-earth couple who got married in the first week in June. They held their reception at the very stylish Anchor Inn in the very quaint Hampshire, out in the English countryside. I have never been to such a fantastic pub in all of my life and I’m not proud to admit that I’ve visited a fair few. We had such beautiful weather that everyone was in the highest of spirits, which really made for quite the perfect day.

  • A WEDDING IN ZURICH

I am very lucky to be able to photograph weddings such as these. Sweet, intimate and so full of love and smiles. It also happened to be in Zürich, a city I had not visited until July. I think I’m in love with Switzerland.

Getting ready together, they were both the picture of calm…

…with a little edge of excitement.

Swiss civil ceremonies last just fifteen minutes, even when in French and English, which leaves plenty of time for tea and sightseeing on vintage trams…

There is something so special about grandparents. This lady reminded me of my own grandma and squeezed my hand and beamed when she caught my eye. She also had the cutest granddaughter who was not in the least bit fatigued by the blazing sunshine.

Thanh has a passion for all things culinary and gave everyone tiny kitchen utensils as gifts.

Isn’t she just the sweetest little thing?

After our trip to Switzerland, we’ve decided that one day we’ll move to Zürich and have lunch by the lake on Sundays with our new friends Thanh & Yvan. It’s a truly beautiful place; fresh and clean and content.

I still have a lot of editing to catch up on and a few more weddings and portraits to do before the year is out. I’m quite sad to see the autumn leaves on the ground but glad to have time to catch up on things through winter. It’s been a year of big changes, exciting challenges and huge rewards, but there’s a little more on all of that later.

  • A LENNOXLOVE WEDDING

Lucy & Rob are exceptional individuals. Funny, charming and disarmingly sweet, their wedding day back in July was well worth the trip up to Edinburgh and back. The sun was shining, the martinis flowed and at the end of the evening, we put down our cameras, picked up a glass and stayed for a dance with our two new friends.
