A SPECTACULAR SEPTEMBER

Last month I photographed a total of seven incredible weddings. I travelled back and forth to France for five of them, and I also got the chance to photograph two beautiful British weddings back home, on those rare few days of sunshine… It’s been a really busy month, so it’s been hard keeping up with blogging as well as shooting and editing, meetings and emails, but here’s a little look at what we’ve been doing.

Nicki & John’s rather royal wedding at Ashridge…

A very private wedding in St Tropez…

Alana & Anthony’s intimate wedding at the chic Chateau de la Couronne

Tim & Phammy’s beautiful garden wedding in St Gery…

A very special wedding weekend on the French riviera…

Cat & Seb’s pretty pink wedding in Corsica…

and last but by no means least, Jess & Matt’s incredible humanist ceremony at The lovely House Meadow

There is so much more to blog and our wedding year isn’t quite finished yet either. We’ll slowly catch up again but in the meantime, we’re spending the weekend in Santorini.

A busy summer it has been, with weddings and shoots aplenty. Happy memories I have captured, to the sum of eight and twenty. Autumn is here and the sun is now shy, the leaves slowly litter the ground, so I’m packing my case and off we will fly, for we are Bali bound…

I am so excited to be photographing a gorgeous outdoor wedding in Bali next weekend! If you need me, I’ll be back on October 16th and if you’d like to see what I’m up to the interim, you can have a behind-the-scenes look over on Instagram.

Thank you as ever to UK Film Lab for the beautiful scan, from an amazing wedding at the Tiara Miramar hotel on the beautiful Cote d’Azur, earlier this month.  There’s plenty more where this has come from, just as soon as I get chance to catch up on the blog. This year has been even busier than I expected but I’m really not complaining when it’s all looked like this!

  • A PRETTY RICHMOND ENGAGEMENT

I met Philippa and James a few months ago, to talk about their wedding in July. For their engagement session, they took me to the beautiful hidden gem that is Petersham Nurseries in Richmond and waited patiently for me to calm down and refocus on them-there were so many pretty things to look at!

  • AN INTIMATE CAPE TOWN WEDDING

I met Sanchia three years ago, working as a hairdresser in Camden. She was the first hairdresser to tell me that my thick and unruly hair was actually beautiful and instantly, we were friends. Together, Sanchia & Richard are a truly fantastic couple; large-hearted, vivacious and very, very stylish, so I was privileged to photograph their intimate garden ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa whilst there on holiday last month.

Thank you Sanch & Rich for a beautiful time in Cape Town. I love you both.

I have lots to blog in the upcoming weeks; my new wedding album, a beautiful Danish wedding and engagement sessions galore. I’ll keep you posted!
  • A WEDDING IN ZURICH

I am very lucky to be able to photograph weddings such as these. Sweet, intimate and so full of love and smiles. It also happened to be in Zürich, a city I had not visited until July. I think I’m in love with Switzerland.

Getting ready together, they were both the picture of calm…

…with a little edge of excitement.

Swiss civil ceremonies last just fifteen minutes, even when in French and English, which leaves plenty of time for tea and sightseeing on vintage trams…

There is something so special about grandparents. This lady reminded me of my own grandma and squeezed my hand and beamed when she caught my eye. She also had the cutest granddaughter who was not in the least bit fatigued by the blazing sunshine.

Thanh has a passion for all things culinary and gave everyone tiny kitchen utensils as gifts.

Isn’t she just the sweetest little thing?

After our trip to Switzerland, we’ve decided that one day we’ll move to Zürich and have lunch by the lake on Sundays with our new friends Thanh & Yvan. It’s a truly beautiful place; fresh and clean and content.

I still have a lot of editing to catch up on and a few more weddings and portraits to do before the year is out. I’m quite sad to see the autumn leaves on the ground but glad to have time to catch up on things through winter. It’s been a year of big changes, exciting challenges and huge rewards, but there’s a little more on all of that later.

  • ONWARDS & UPWARDS…

Over the past four years, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with my brilliant and beautiful friend Emma Jane. We’ve photographed the vast majority of our weddings alone but have also been able to work together on huge weddings in London, at a medieval French castle and out in the Somerset countryside. It’s been so fantastic having someone help me tame the loveable beast that is Caught the Light and also, to see her weddings and talent take her to Germany, France, Italy and Spain along with countless corners of our very own England.

Alas, the time had come to distinguish ourselves as two individual photographers a little more clearly. So, as one door closes, another swings wide open… Em is now married to her devilishly handsome actor and with a new year come new websites for us both. She is still an exceptional choice for your wedding photography and if when you enquire I am already booked, she’ll still be my number one girl. Having photographed my wedding five years ago, I couldn’t ever recommend another more highly.

You can keep up with her weddings over on her Facebook page, sneak a look at what goes on behind the scenes over on her instagram account and read her 140-character thoughts over on twitter. There’s her blog for all of the latest and lastly if you might like to have her photograph your wedding, then I honestly don’t know what you’re waiting for.

Finally, to you Mrs Sekhon, tusen tack for being so wonderful over the whirlwind of the past few years. I can’t wait to see what this exciting new chapter brings. Ever onwards and upwards!

  • A FRENCH CHATEAU WEDDING

A wedding in Provence is a special affair, the light is so pretty and there’s a scent in the air, of rosé in glasses and the green of the trees and the humming and buzzing of fat bumble bees. Nicola and James came together in May to a cheer of bon chance on their French wedding day.
