A WEDDING AT ONE MARYLEBONE

Kate & Tom were the first clients I met after a long flight home from Australia in January. We had a drink at The Alice House and talked for hours and I knew before I’d left, that we had become friends. Their wedding was just beautiful. Kate shone, Tom grinned, they both said I do and I cried just a little bit, from the sheer love of it all.

Thank you Kate, for being the picture of elegance and thank you to you Tom for beaming all day long. You are both so lovely and I wish you a world of happiness together.

A wedding at One Marylebone is one of my new favourite things. Tall windows, lots of light, a central location in town and incredible staff. There’s little more you could want from a gorgeous London wedding venue.

We’ve been non-stop editing over the past few weeks and have also managed to photograph two beautiful weddings in the countryside and a session along the river. This weekend we may even have a little sunshine if we’re very lucky, before we head off to two different weddings in France next weekend with another little stop in Paris. It’s a hard job, but someone has to do it.

~This time last week, I had just come home from a day spent at Unveiled, an event held by the British Journal of Photography in association with Wedding magazine and Hasselblad. The event was aimed at wedding photographers in the UK; those established and aspiring.

I was thrilled to be asked by the BJP to speak about my experience in the wedding photography industry and to stand up alongside Kat of the infamous RocknRoll bride, to talk about how I began Caught the Light. I absolutely love my job and feel very passionately about natural wedding photography, believing that there’s a direct correlation between valuing your product as a photographer and loving each wedding from start-to-finish. It was a great experience for me to meet some colleagues and discuss all sorts of wedding photography things. The July issue of the BJP also features a little about me in the Intelligence section. I was interviewed to discuss a bit about how important things like this blog, Facebook & increasingly Twitter, have become to me as a photographer.

So, when you get a minute, have a look at the latest issue of the BJP or better still, pick up a subscription using the discount code Unveiled. It’s a beautiful monthly and they’ve just revamped the website, so it’s cleaner and more aesthetically aware than ever.
Lastly, if you’re an aspiring or even an established wedding photographer, make sure you enter the Unveiled competition.
I’m off to Switzerland in the morning, to get ready for a wedding on Saturday. It’s been a little grey here in London over the past few days, so let’s hope Zurich has a little more sunshine to offer. I’ll be able to share last month’s destination wedding next week too-a beautiful wedding in Tuscany.
  • AN AIX-EN-PROVENCE WEDDING

It is always special photographing a wedding day, but sometimes a little bit even more special when the bride is a wedding blogger who also happens to be exceptionally lovely and is marrying her husband under a bright blue sky. Nick & Georgia flew me to France to photograph their wedding weekend in Provence at Chateau Grimaldi and for this, I am eternally grateful.

  • A FRENCH GARDEN WEDDING

On a Wednesday in late summer, when the sky was grey then blue, Tim & Phammy planned a party, and from Aus to France they flew. Chairs were set in the garden, friends and crates of local wine, with his best suit and her new dress all pressed and looking fine. The sun came out as they said their vows, the birds in the trees began to sing, they held hands and smiling at each other, sealed their promises with two rings.

  • A FRENCH CASTLE WEDDING

Kate & Rob are the kind of people you would describe as salt of the earth. Embracing and endearing, Emma-Jane and I felt like we’d been friends of theirs forever and with Rob’s sharp suit and Kate’s red hair, they were a treat to photograph. Two-hundred guests travelled from England & Dubai to the French town of Pierrefonds to celebrate their wedding in a huge medieval castle. It was certainly a weekend to remember.

  • A RUFFLED BLOG FEATURE

I knew I would love Alex & Chris when we first spoke on the phone early last year. They’re designers and run their own studio, We Three Club, so I was very excited to see how much of their personalities they would bring to their wedding and when Alex told me she’d be wearing a vintage dress, I was in. They booked me right there and then on the phone without even needing to meet me, which for me is always a huge compliment. She also totally out-quiffed me with her gorgeous hair, scoring an easy 10/10 in the style stakes.
